    PHILADELPHIA - Three UD boats advanced to the semifinal heats of the Dad Vail Regatta as the Dayton Flyers closed out the 2009 spring season.

    In the semifinals, UD's Varsity 8 placed in fifth after recording a time of 6:45.123.

    UD's Novice 8 boat got to the semifinals and placed in third with a time of 6:56.138, just two seconds away from qualifying for the finals.

    Dayton's Varsity Pair also advanced to the semifinals. In their semifinal heat, the duo placed in sixth with a time of 8:52.268.

    On Friday, Dayton's Lightweight 8 placed in eighth, but was unable to advance to the semifinals with a time of 5:27.585.

    The Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States. More than 100 schools have entered to date. More than 30 states will be represented along with several Canadian provinces making up a field of 115 colleges, universities and service academies.

    The Dad Vail Regatta concludes the 2008-09 season for the Flyers.
