DAYTON FINISHES ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP IN FOURTH

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Dayton Flyers placed in fourth at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship. UD's Lightweight 8 finished in second in its respective heat. The Lightweight 8 clocked in a 7:43.3 just nine seconds back of first. Meanwhile UD's Varsity Four completed their heat with a time of 9:19.9 to finish in second among the petites. The Varsity 8 tallied a fourth place finish with a time of 7:19.1 just 10 seconds behind Rhode Island who won the overall championship. The 10 second gap was an improvement up on last year's 22 second gap. The Second Varsity 8 also placed in fourth after rowing a time of 7:23.7. Other boats that competed included the Novice 8 which came in sixth at 7:53.2 and the Lightweight Four which finished their race with a time of 9:52.1. Last year UD finished in fifth overall at the A-10 Championship. Junior Kate Athmer earned a First-Team, All-Atlantic 10 selection. Meanwhile juniors Allison Gates and Anna Heink received All-Atlantic 10 Second Team honors. Up next for the Flyers is the Indianapolis Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, April 26.
