Heink was elected as the 2008-2009 team captain.

2007-08
Heink rowed in the Varsity 8 and Lightweight 8 boats. After winning 2nd place in the Lightweight 8 event at A-10s, she was named to the second All-Conference team and the Academic Honor Roll. In the summer of 2008, Heink attended US Rowing Development Camp at Thompson Boat Center in Washington D.C. She competed with other lightweights from across the nation at the US Rowing National Regatta, helping the lightweight squad to 1st place finishes in both the Lightweight 8+ and Lightweight 4+ events. Heink also rowed in the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, with second place finishes in the senior/B lightweight 8+ and 4- events.

2006-2007
Sat stroke seat of the 2V8 which achieved a 3rd place finish in the A-10 championship and won a silver medal at the Dad Vail Regatta. She was also a member of the lightweight 8+, which earned a gold medal finish at A-10s. She was named to the A-10 Academic Honor Roll.

2005-2006
Heink began her rowing career at the University of Dayton. Before arriving at UD she was the captain of her high school cross country and track teams. She was the stroke of the Novice 8+ which earned a bronze medal at the A-10 championship regatta. Also at A-10's, she won a silver medal in the lightweight 4+ event. She was named the season's "Most Valuable Novice."
