RUHE LEADS UD WOMEN IN FALL SEASON FINALE

Oct. 27, 2004

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Junior women's golfer Tiffany Ruhe (Ottawa, OH) finished tied for sixth place with a one-round score of nine-over par to lead the University of Dayton at the F&M Bank Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay University Monday. Due to rain and unplayable conditions, Tuesday's final round was cancelled.

Ruhe's score of 80 on the par-71 Clarksville Country Club was only five strokes off the trio of leaders. Finishing next for the Flyer women was sophomore Melissa Gaus (Noblesville, IN), who was tied for 38th with an 85. Senior Carolyn Fuchs (Louisville, KY) and freshman Laura Grande (Carmel, IN) each shot an 87 to finish tied for 52nd, while junior Melissa Juve (Akron, OH) carded a 94.

In the team standings, UD finished in 10th place out of 15 teams, with a one-round total score of 339 (+54), which was 24 strokes behind the overall team winner Princeton University. Princeton was declared winner after heavy rains covered the course, causing suspension of play until officials finally called the tournament Tuesday.

The individual champion saw a three-way tie between Melissa Reeves of Wichita State University, Sharla Cloutier from Princeton University, and Nikki Orazine from Murray State University. All three shot a four-over par 75.

This concludes the fall season for the Flyers who will continue their play in the spring.
