Melissa Gaus currently sits tied for third on first day of competition

FORT WAYNE, IN - FORT WAYNE, IN - Two seniors and three freshman got the Flyer's off to a solid start on the first day of competition at the IPFW Invitational. Gaus, a senior, led all Flyers shooting a three over par 74. She currently sits in a tie for third place.

The next three finishers for Dayton was complied of a stellar cast of freshman. Sharing a tie for 27th place was Katie Dempsey and Cari DeAngelis, who shot a respectable 83. Two strokes behind them was teammate Katie Gallagher, who recorded an 85.

Rounding out play for Dayton was senior Lindsey Greuter, who finished tied for 34th place, tallying 88 strokes for the first round.

The Flyers shot a team total of 325, only three strokes behind fourth place leader, Loyola University.

Round two will start tomorrow at 9 a.m.
