FLYERS WRAP UP PLAY AT CARDINAL CLASSIC

YORKTOWN, Ind. - The University of Dayton women's golf team fired a second-round 339 Tuesday to finish tied for 12th at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind. Dayton finished in a tie with Evansville as each school had a matching 340 in the first round and 339 in the second round for a combined score of 679. Butler won the team title with a two-day total of 613 followed by Ferris State (615), Xavier (617), Ball State (620) and Oakland (626). Junior Melissa Gaus was the top UD finisher for the second day in a row. She carded a second round 80 after opening with an 82 on Monday. Her two round total of 162 placed her in a tie for 33rd individually. Classmate Lindsey Greuter finished tied for 54th place overall after a two-day score of 169. She tallied an 82 on Monday followed by an 87 Tuesday. Sophomore Laura Grande placed 66th with a combined score of 175. She was followed by fellow sophomore Mary Kane who cut eight strokes off her game from a first round 92 to a second round 84 to finish one stroke back overall in a tie for 67th place at 176. Senior Melissa Juve rounded out the Flyer scorers with a two stroke improvement on Tuesday to finish at 178 overall in a tie for 70th place. Dayton returns to action this weekend at the Toledo Rocket Classic on Saturday and Sunday. The two-day tournament will be held at Heather Downs Country Club in Toledo. |
