ALLENDALE, Mich. - The University of Dayton women's golf team opened the season Monday and Tuesday at the Grand Valley State Laker Fall Classic in Allendale, Mich. The Flyers finished 14th overall out of 18 teams competing at the Meadows Golf Club.

Dayton's team of four reported a total score of 712. Melissa Juve and Danielle Hawksley led the Dayton team with scores of 177 each for the two-day.

Laura Grande, playing as an individual, placed highest at 47th for the Dayton team with a total score of 173.

The host school, Grand Valley State, finished in first place followed by Drury and Ferris State at the par-72, 5,882-yard course. Juve and Lindsey Grueter led Dayton after Monday's first round, carding a pair of 90s. A 92 from Melissa Gaus and a 95 from Hawksley added to the overall team score of 367.

UD's highest finish came from Grande who shot an 82 playing as an individual. It tied her in 20th place out of 110. The Flyers return to action Sept. 24 and 25 at the Toledo Rocket Classic.
