PINEHURST, NC - Junior Melissa Gaus carded a first round 85 to lead Dayton into eighth place after day one at the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship on Friday at Pinehurst #6.

UD is eighth in the nine-team CAA field and will tee off in Saturday's second round beginning at 11:10 a.m. ET.

The Flyers combined for a 367 and will be paired with seventh-place Old Dominion (342) and ninth-place Hofstra (369) on Saturday.

Gaus put up a 43 on the front nine and carded a 42 coming home for an 85 to tie for 24th place individually.

Junior Lindsey Grueter finished in a tie for 32nd place with a first-round 92. Freshman Michelle Borchers and sophomore Laura Grande followed with scores of 94 and 96 respectively. Borchers is tied for 39th place while Grande is 42nd individually.

Senior rounded out the Flyer competitors in 45th place after firing a 109.
