GOOD THIRD ROUND GIVES UD A TOP 10 FINISH AT LONGWOOD

FARMSVILLE, Va. - The Dayton Flyers finished strong in round three of the Tina Barrett Longwood Invitational ending up with a 10th place finish. Dayton shot a 335 in day two to finish the tournament with an aggregate score of 1,025. Freshman Katie Dempsey tallied the lowest score of the day for UD with an 82. She fired a 241 for the invitational and in a tie for 15th. Coming back from a sluggish round two, senior Lindsey Greuter finished with an 83 in round three. The senior completed the tournament tied for 48th overall with a score of 241. In third place for the Flyers was senior Melissa Gaus who tallied her lowest score of the tournament with an 84 in round three. After shooting an 89 and 87 in the first two rounds, she placed in 52nd with a score of 260. Another Flyer who enjoyed a splendid finish was freshman Elaine English who shot an 86 in round three to finish the invitational with a 275 overall score. Rounding out the group for Dayton was freshman Paige Smith who tallied a 96 in round three. Dayton returns to action on Saturday at the Lady Herd/Lady Dukes Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The players will compete at the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia. |
