DAYTON WOMEN INK SEVEN DURING EARLY SIGNING PERIOD

DAYTON, Ohio - Head Coach Jim Jabir welcomed his largest ever recruiting class with the addition of seven signed National Letters of Intent to the Dayton women's basketball program during the early signing period, which concluded this week. The Flyers will welcome De'Sarae Chambers, Patrice Lalor, Kayla Moses, Casey Nance, Justine Raterman and Brittany Wilson to the UD family for the 2008-2009 season.

Dayton's 2007 class is not just filled with a large quantity of players, but quality as well. All four of the Ohio natives made the list of Top 25 prep seniors in the State by the Ohio Girls Basketball Report. Also, all three of the Kentucky prep players were listed among the best players in the Bluegrass State by the Rick Bolus' High Potential® Basketball Recruiting Service, Inc. Overall, the Flyer class was ranked No. 39 nationally by the Blue Star Report.

Chambers, a 5-9 guard from Mason County (KY) High School, was recently named to the "Tremendous 26", a list of the top players in the State of Kentucky according to a High Sports website. At the conclusion of last season, she was selected as the 2007 Ledger Independent All-Area Girls' Player of the Year. Chambers led the team and the area in points per game (17.6) and free throw percentage (82.8 percent). The Lady Royals' all-time leading scorer, she broke the 2,000-point barrier early last year.

Lalor, a 5-6 guard from Toledo's (OH) Notre Dame High School, averaged 13.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.9 steals per game in earning first-team All-City League honors for the third straight season as a junior. She was also a second-team all-district selection in Division I. During her career, Lalor has helped the Eagles to a 46-16 overall record, two CL playoff berths including one league final.

Moses, a 5-4 guard from Scott County High School in Georgetown, Ky., led her prep team to the District Championship last season with a 25-4 record and was an Honorable Mention All-State selection. She averaged 15.0 points, 3.3 steals and 3.7 rebounds per game as a junior.

Casey Nance


Nance, a 6-4 forward from Revere High School in Akron, Ohio, averaged 15.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game last season for a 15-7 Revere team that finished third in its league. She was an Honorable Mention All-State selection as a junior.

Raterman, a 6-1 forward from Versailles (OH) High School, is ranked as 10th best forward in the nation by HoopGurlz.com as well as the 35th best player overall. She averaged nearly 17 points and 10 rebounds per game while leading the Tigers to the OHSAA Division III state semifinals last season. Raterman was also a Second Team All-Ohio selection.

Wilson, a native of Louisville's (KY) Manual High School, was joined by fellow Dayton signee De'Sarae Chambers on the Blue-Chip All-Star "Elite" AAU team that finished second in the addidas Deep South Tournament. The 5-11 forward was also named MVP of the Tourney.
