WOMEN'S HOOPS CONTINUES ROAD STRETCH WITH BUTLER FRIDAY
Nov. 20, 2008 Gametracker | FREE Video Streaming DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers women's basketball team will continue its nine-game road swing with Butler University on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. ET. Dayton enters the game 1-2 after taking on two nationally-ranked opponents last weekend in No. 13 Texas and No. 24 Old Dominion in the first two days of the World Vision Classic. The Flyers fell to the Longhorns, 66-40, and were defeated by the Monarchs, 70-58. Freshman Justine Raterman had a solid weekend averaging a team-high 12.7 rebounds and 12.0 ppg. She earned the inaugural Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor after carrying the Flyers versus ODU tallying the first double-double of her career with 27 points and 15 boards. Of the 27 points she scored, 16 came in the first half alone. Against Texas, Raterman grabbed a game-high 11 boards. UD picked up its lone win in the tournament against St. Mary's on Monday after an impressive effort from sophomore Kristin Daugherty who scored 14 points in the final minutes of the game to pull out the 62-68 victory. Daugherty tallied a career-high 31 points in the game to lead all scorers. She was named to the World Vision Classic All-Tournament Team for finishing the weekend with an average of 22.3 ppg on 9-of-5 shooting from three-point range and a perfect 14-of-14 from the line. She is also averaging 5.0 rpg and had seven assists and four steals on the weekend. Joining Daugherty with a career-high was Kendel Ross who had her best game this season versus St. Mary's. Ross tallied a double-double with a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds in 39 minutes of action. SERIES STUFF SCOUTING BUTLER The Bulldogs returned 11 of 13 letterwinners from 2007-08. The team was tabbed fifth in the Horizon League preseason poll. They are coached by Beth Couture who owns an 85-91 record in six years at BU and a 343-208 overall record in 18 years of coaching.
