DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton women's basketball team will tip-off the 2008-09 season with its lone exhibition game on Thursday at UD Arena versus the Ohio Legends. The game is set for 5:30 p.m. ET and is a part of a men's and women's doubleheader.

Dayton's men's team will play host to Capital at 8 p.m. ET. Both games can be followed with Gametracker and free live audio and video streamed broadcasts at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

The Flyers were recently picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Dayton returns six letterwinners from last year's squad that finished 25-9 overall, 9-5 in the Atlantic 10 and earned a berth in the postseason WNIT.

Lone returning starter and A-10 Preseason Third-Team selection Kristin Daugherty will be looked upon to lead this year's squad. Daugherty, a 2007-08 conference All-Rookie selection, ranked third in scoring (9.3 ppg) and blocked shots (0.56 bpg) last season and was second on the team in rebounding (5.0 rpg).

Daugherty will have plenty of help. Junior Kendel Ross has been Dayton's most consistent bench performer for the past two seasons. Ross led all Flyer reserves in rebounding (4.4 rpg) and field goal percentage (.464) against A-10 opponents last year.

UD welcomes eight newcomers including McDonald's All-American nominees Justine Raterman and De'Sarae Chambers. Patrice Lalor, Kayla Moses, Casey Nance, Brittany Wilson, Staci Willis and Elle Queen also join the roster.

The Ohio Legends, a team comprised of former standout collegiate and WNBA basketball players from the state of Ohio, are coming off a two-game winning streak. The Legends won 76-70 in overtime against Toledo on Monday and defeated conference rival Xavier on Tuesday, 75-67.

UD will open up the regular season on the road at the World Vision Classic in Austin, Texas. The Flyers will play game one of nine-straight road games versus tournament host Texas on Saturday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET before facing Old Dominion Sunday, November 16 and Saint Mary's on Monday, November 17.
