EUROPEAN JOURNAL DAY 4: UD HEADS TO STRAKONICE
Aug. 9, 2005 STRAKONICE, Czech Republic - The Flyer women's basketball team made its way to the Southwestern portion of the Czech Republic to Strakonice Tuesday for sightseeing and its second game of its 10-day tour through Eastern Europe. UD began the day with a bus ride from the Czech capital of Prague and headed South to Strakonice to tour a Castle built in the early 13th century. The building served as the home to many Czech Kings and Queens while also being frequented by Napolean. After the tour, the team was treated to lunch before checking into Hotel Garnet and heading off to play its second game on foreign soil. Dayton took on BK Czech Coal of Strakonice, which finished sixth in the Czech First Division last season. The Flyers won 72-60 as four players reached double figures in scoring. Nikki Oakland led the way overall with 13 points and nine rebounds. Jennifer Strong had the team lead in points for the second time in as many games during the trip with 13 to go along with five rebounds. Terri Ramsey and Angela Cape each added 11 points of their own. The team will next head east to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia on Wednesday.
