The 2007-2008 season was the most successful in UD women's basketball (Div. I) history

March 27, 2008

As the old cliché says, all good things must come to an end and so must the most successful season in UD Women's Basketball Division I history. Seven Flyers will be graduating in May. These seniors, at the least, have earned the right to go out with the last word. Below are the departing statements from each of this year's seniors.

Ashley Armstrong
"Reflecting on my time at Dayton, I see four years scattered with emotional highs and lows, physical ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses of every sort and overall extreme growth. I recognize now more than ever that it's not what you're doing, but who you are with when you're making it happen.

Karah Cloxton
"The last four years have been the best of my life. I owe much of that to my teammates, coaches, and everyone at UD. I will cherish the relationships I have built here at UD for the rest of my life. Thank you to everyone who has helped make my time here so special.

Kathy Guin
"I love the game of basketball it has been apart of my life for a long time. I just would like to thank God for giving me my ability to play this game. I would like to thank my parents for being there for me through thick and thin, also for keeping me level headed and for believing in me no matter what. I would like to thank my family and friends; thanks for the support! I just wish everyone the best! Much Love.

Brittany Holterman
"So many things have changed while I have been here. The coaches, the offenses, the defenses, the classes, and everything else, but one thing has been consistent: my class. We have endured everything together. These girls just know. They know what it felt like to have coaches move on, to push through endless workouts, to sit in airports, to travel all over the country, but only see the inside of a bus or a gym, to feel worthless, and to feel on top of the world. Over these four years I have had some of the best moments of my life and some of the worst, but no matter what my class has stuck by me.

I could not have picked a better group of girls to experience this all with. The memories that we have shared are priceless and I will miss these girls more than anything else about UD. My class has made this experience all worthwhile. We all came in as extremely different people, but somewhere along the way we all have changed to be more alike. When I left Racine, Wisconsin bound for UD in June of 2004, I thought it was the saddest day of my life. After four years of living with my best friends, I have realized that leaving UD will be.

Kiki Lund
"Has it really been four years? It sure has been quite the ride. To think that upon my arrival in August 2004 I didn't know a single face in this city, state, or country for that matter and now I have to leave behind a group of people I have come to know as my family. I can't even begin to list all the experiences and people that have made my time here at UD so special. I'm so proud of the team and what we've accomplished, and I'm going to miss all of the girls so much. When that infamous airplane takes off toward Denmark in late May, I will be bringing home so many amazing memories, and for that I am thankful!

Nikki Oakland
"I want to thank all the people that have supported me throughout my entire basketball career. I definitely couldn't have done it without them. I've really enjoyed my time here at Dayton. My teammates have been amazing. I want to especially thank my senior classmates. We came in together and we're leaving together, not many athletes can say that. I've heard that you don't go to college to find your husband; you go to find your bridesmaids. I definitely think I've done that. I love you all and I know that we will always stay close.

Jen Tisza
"I would first like to thank the administration and coaching staff for giving me such a great opportunity here at UD. I would also like to thank my family for their support. I would not have made it to UD without them and they were always there to support me during my four years here. Lastly and most importantly, I would like to thank my teammates. You girls have become my best friends that I will never forget. Whether I was injured or playing, you guys were there for me, and I could not have done it without you. Specifically I want to thank the seniors. I am so lucky to have come to UD with such a great group of girls. All of you have taught me something different while I have been here that I will take with me forever. I love you girls more than anything and wish you all the best of luck in the future!
