The Flyers also earned votes in the AP Top 25 Poll for the first time ever this season and enter the A-10 Championship as one of the teams on the "bubble" for the NCAA Tournament according to ESPN.com's Charlie Creme. Flyer Head Coach Jim Jabir was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year on Wednesday to headline a group of four honorees from UD. He has led Dayton to the third largest turnaround in the nation at this point in the season with an improvement of 11.5 games over the 2006-2007 campaign. Three other Flyers were also honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference as Nikki Oakland earned Second Team All-Conference honors, Kristin Daugherty was named to the All-Rookie Team and Karah Cloxton was placed on the Academic All-Conference Team. UD will be looking to avenge a 56-46 loss to UMass on Feb. 23 in Amherst, MA and advance to the A-10 Quarterfinals for the third consecutive season. The winner of the contest between the Flyers and Minutewomen will face fourth-seeded Charlotte on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET in a game that can also be followed with Gametracker, Live Audio and Live Video at www.DaytonFlyers.com. |
