PHILADELPHIA - University of Dayton women's basketball will face Massachusetts in the Opening Round of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships at SJU Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse this Friday at 2 p.m. ET. The Flyers will enter as the fifth seed after compiling a 9-5 record in conference play and a program record 23-7 mark overall.

The Flyers' first opponent in Atlantic 10 Championship play will be 12th seeded UMass, which also beat UD earlier this season. The Minutewomen won 56-46 on Feb. 23 in Amherst, MA.

UD matched Charlotte with identical 9-5 Atlantic 10 records, but the Flyers were tabbed as the fifth seed and the 49ers became the fourth seed following a 64-51 Charlotte victory on Jan. 22 at UD Arena. The No. 5 seed is the second highest ever for Dayton in its 11-year Atlantic 10 history.

The winner of the Dayton/UMass Opening Round matchup will face Charlotte in the A-10 Quarterfinals on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET also at SJU Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse in Philadelphia.
