The Flyers look to improve their seed for the Atlantic 10 Championships as it plays host to Duquesne on Friday night at UD Arena. Four Flyer seniors (Angela Cape, Lyndsey DeWitt, Terri Ramsey and Cara Wright) will be honored as part of Senior Night ceremonies before a game that will be televised live in the Dayton area on Time Warner Television (Channel 25). The group will finish their Dayton careers with one of the best years in school history. UD's 16 wins are the most since the 2000-01 season and are just two shy of the most ever in Division I history. Dayton won 18 games in the 1985-86 season, when most of this senior class was in preschool. They have helped UD improve from just three wins in three years ago to 12 last season onto 16 so far this year. Angela Cape will be making her 50th consecutive start at center for the Flyers on Friday. The former A-10 Preseason All-Rookie Team member has started all but one game over the past three seasons and this year is averaging 3.7 ppg and 2.3 rpg in just 14.0 minutes per contest. Lyndsey DeWitt has appeared in six games this season since the start of A-10 play. She played in a career-best 27 games during her sophomore season after joining the Flyers from Louisville and scored in double figures three times including a career-best 18 in an overtime win over Fordham. Terri Ramsey joined the UD roster last season from Scottsdale CC and has started all but two games at point guard in that time. She ranks seventh in the A-10 in assist-to-turnover ratio and ninth in assists per game. Ramsey was also named to the All-Tournament team while helping Dayton win the Tulane Basketball Classic this season. Cara Wright entered her senior season by being named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason First Team after garnering Second Team honors at the end of last year. She leads the A-10 with 13 double-doubles this season and is among the nation's leaders in rebounding. Wright is also sixth in the A-10 in scoring and has the top two single-game rebounding totals in Flyer Division I history. |
