GAME NOTES (for complete notes click PDF link above) Dayton found itself down 33-14 at the half to UMass, drawing comparisons to the previous home game in which UD trailed Duquesne 36-13 at intermission and came back to win 55-54. But unlike the Duquesne game, the Flyers didn't have a big half as UMass held UD to its lowest point-total of the season. Dayton also held UMass to UD's season-low points allowed. The Flyers came back from down 23 points at the half against Duquesne, out-scoring the Dukes 42-18 in the second half for a 55-54 win. Dayton forced 16 second-half turnovers, while committing just four themselves. Amber Peterink returned to the lineup Friday for UD and grabbed three rebounds in her first action since January 9. Both Cara Wright and Jennifer Strong posted double-doubles at George Washington. Strong finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her first of the season, while Wright added 17 points and 11 boards for her eighth double-double of the year. Freshman guard Kiki Lund scored a career-high 10 points against George Washington Sunday to go with four rebounds and two assists. Junior guard Terri Ramsey set a new career-high in points with 14 and rebounds with seven against Duquesne. Against Fordham, she tied her previous UD-highs in points (11) and assists (six) and also had four steals and four rebounds. Entering the weekend, Jennifer Strong was averaging 15.8 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and was shooting .542 from three-point range (13-of-24). Dayton's 10 game turnaround from last year's record (seven-games in the win column and 13-games in the loss column thus far) is the second-largest turnaround in the NCAA from last year. Only Robert Morris is ahead of UD. Dayton is 3-0 versus the Atlantic 10 East so far. The Flyers are 9-1 when scoring 60 or more points, falling for the first time with a 67-61 loss at La Salle. Jennifer Strong scored a career-high 23 points at Xavier. She had tied her previous career-high with 21 points to lead the Flyers to a 63-50 win over Fordham. Strong also set her season high in rebounds with seven at Fordham. Cara Wright recored her seventh double-double in UD's win over Duquesne with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She just missed a double-double at Xavier, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes. The Flyers are 8-4 when Jennifer Strong scores eight or more points and 2-8 when she's held to seven points or less. Dayton is 8-2 when Emily Williams scores eight or more points, and 7-4 when Cara Wright hits nine points or more. The Flyers have won all eight games in which they've had more free throws than their opponent, and are 2-11 when the opposition gets to the line more. |
