FLYERS TAKE ON FORDHAM IN ATLANTIC 10 PLAY SATURDAY AFTERNOON
Feb. 8, 2008 Complete Release in PDF Format DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns to action on the road with a match-up against the Fordham Rams on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Bronx, N.Y. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET in a game that can be followed with Gametracker on www.DaytonFlyers.com. Audio will also be offered from Fordham's public radio station WFUV-FM at www.WFUV.org. Dayton is coming off a 64-51 victory at home versus St. Bonaventure on Super Bowl Sunday. The Flyers picked up their fourth A-10 win of the season and moved to 18-5 on the year. Senior Nikki Oakland led UD with 19 points; sophomore Kendel Ross had 14, while veteran Karah Cloxton added 11. Although UD has lost three of its last five games, the team will play three of its next four games at home. Dayton boasts a 9-1 record at UD Arena this season averaging 70.4 ppg, while holding opponents to 55.8 ppg. The Rams are 0-23, including 0-8 in the league, and will vie to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday. Fordham will rely on one of the best freshmen in the A-10 with powerhouse Megan Mahoney. Mahoney leads the Rams in scoring and is fifth in the nation among freshmen with 16.3 ppg. The rookie has been averaging 22.1 ppg in league play and has led her team in scoring 15 times this season including a 22 point effort Wednesday night versus Rhode Island. UD leads the all-time series with the Rams 12-4 and has a 5-1 record in Bronx, New York. The Flyers defeated Fordham last year at UD Arena on Jan. 21. Ross had one of the biggest games of her career tallying her first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Proceeding Saturday's game, the Flyers return home for a three-game homestand at UD Arena.
