Cara Wright Leads UD Into Sunday's Game at GW

The University of Dayton women's basketball team will look for its eighth road win of the season Sunday in the nation's capital against George Washington. The Flyers and Colonials meet in a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at the Smith Center in Washington, DC. The Flyers are coming off a 55-54 come-from-behind win over Duquesne last Sunday, in which Cara Wright recorded her seventh double-double.

The Flyers (10-10 overall, 4-5 Atlantic 10) sit in fourth place in the A-10 West after Sunday's win against the Dukes. Dayton erased a 23-point halftime deficit behind 12 points and 10 rebounds from Wright, and career-highs with 14 points and seven rebounds from Terri Ramsey.

George Washington (13-7, 6-3 Atlantic 10) is in third place after falling at La Salle on Friday. The Colonials won the previous meeting this season against the Flyers, 69-41,on January 14 at the Frericks Center.

DAYTON NOTES Junior guard Terri Ramsey set a new career-high in points with 14 and rebounds with seven against Duquesne. Against Fordham, she tied her previous UD-highs in points (11) and assists (six) and also had four steals and four rebounds.

The Flyers came back from down 23 points at the half against Duquesne, out-scoring the Dukes 42-18 in the second half for a 55-54 win. Dayton forced 16 second-half turnovers, while committing just four themselves.

Jennifer Strong scored a career-high 23 points against Xavier on Thursday. She had tied her previous career-high with 21 points to lead the Flyers to a 63-50 win over Fordham. Strong also set her season high in rebounds with seven at Fordham.

In her last five games, Jennifer Strong is averaging 15.8 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and is shooting .508 from the field (30-of-59) and .500 from three-point range (11-of-22).

Cara Wright recored her seventh double-double in UD's win over Duquesne with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She just missed a double-double at Xavier, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes.

Freshman forward Brittany Holterman was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week (Jan 15-22) after she scored 12 of her career-high 14 points in the second half at La Salle while adding eight rebounds. Six of her boards came on the offensive glass. Holterman added six rebounds on Sunday at Fordham.

Freshman guard Kiki Lund set a career-high with eight points to go with four assists against La Salle. She also tied her career-high in rebounds while playing 19 minutes.

The Flyers are 8-3 when Jennifer Strong scores eight or more points and 2-7 when she's held to seven points or less. Dayton is 8-2 when Emily Williams scores eight or more points, and 7-3 when Cara Wright hits nine points or more.

The Flyers are 9-1 when scoring 60 or more points, falling for the first time with a 67-61 loss at La Salle.

Dayton is 5-1 this year in day games, and 4-1 on Sundays.

The Flyers have won all eight games in which they've had more free throws than their opponent, and are 2-10 when the opposition gets to the line more.

Angela Cape was one-off her career high in assists with three against Fordham. The junior center was one of four Flyers in double-figures with 10 points.

The Flyers held an 18-7 edge over La Salle in offensive rebounds. Holterman (six) nearly had as many offensive boards as the entire Explorer team (seven).

UD's 79 rebounds this season in a win over Detroit is the highest total in Atlantic 10 history and among the NCAA's top performances ever.
