DAYTON 79, TOLEDO 77
Dec. 29, 2005
UD HEAD COACH Jim Jabir I am really proud of our kids. I think we grew up a bit tonight. We started well and then we struggled. Then in the second half we played the way we wanted to play, which is with a lot of guts and playing hard. To comeback like that and play so hard was amazing. The disparity in our foul shooting from the first half to the second half made me really proud see how we came back. I think Brittany (Holterman) did a great job in the second half. Kiki's (Lund) shooting helped us a lot in the first half. I thought Amber Peterink did a really work for us. Nikki Oakland had a really nice game. Overall I am really pleased with our players On the team's free throw shooting I feel like we can defend and we can execute offensively when we are focused. We defended really well in spurts tonight, but then we would lose focus and fall behind. We can't do that. To shoot 76 percent in the second half is huge for us when we are normally at 50 or 60 percent overall. I was very proud of our composure and our focus which gave us the ability to turn it around that helped us win the game. It is nice to get three kids in double figures again, which haven't always been able to do. It is nice that it is not just Cara. We had two players with eight...11...13. That is more balanced for us. Terri Ramsey's eight assists with just two turnovers is amazing. Describe the last play of the game Actually Cara Wright called that play when she came to the sideline during the timeout. We have a play called bump back, which is just posting up "J" (Jennifer Strong). It made sense so we went right to it. "J" is a pretty clutch kid. "J" has won a couple of games for us. She has put a couple of games into overtime for us. "J" is just plain clutch. On playing for a Championship Tomorrow It's huge. Winning a championship for us is really important to us. Going into January at 8-2 with the best record since 1982 is also really important to us. |
