DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers used a lights out first half to bury the Clemson Tigers 81-43 at UD Arena on Tuesday night. After jumping out to a 49-16 lead in the first stanza, UD never looked back in taking its 10th straight contest and improving to 10-2 on the season.

Senior Kathy Guin led all scorers with 13 points, while classmates Brittany Holterman and Nikki Oakland added 12 points apiece. In total, 10 Flyers reached the scoring column in Tuesday's offensive outburst that improved upon the third-longest active winning streak in the nation and second longest in Flyer history.

After topping the 80 point plateau just once in Jim Jabir's first two years as head coach, the Flyers crested the mark for the third time this season against the Tigers.

The Flyers led the game by as many as 44 points en route to a 38-point margin of victory. The last time the Flyers topped an opponent by more than 30 points was a 69-38 home win over Fordham (Jan. 21, 2007). It was also the biggest win for Dayton since the Flyers handed Wright State an 89-34 loss six years ago to the day.

On the strength of a 66.7 percent shooting effort in the first half, UD connected on over half of its shots overall (31-for-61) for the second straight game. The Flyers also dominated in rebounding (46-36), fast break points (21-4), points in the paint (44-26) and bench points (38-28).

In the first period, Oakland led all scorers with 12 points to go with six boards. The senior center finished with her fourth double-double of the season (12 points, 11 rebounds). Freshman Kristin Daugherty also came out hot, scoring 10 points over the first 8:25. Senior guard Kathy Guin also scored in double figures in the first half, dropping 10 on the Tigers.

Early on, it was some sloppy play on offense by Clemson which led to the Flyers hot start. But as the half went on, the Flyers kept burying shot after shot - the team would finish the half shooting 66.7 percent (18-of-27) from the floor.

After Clemson's first bucket made the score 4-2, the closest Clemson would get, the Dayton defense put the clamps on for the next 4:01 and scored 18 straight in the meantime to take a commanding lead, 22-4.

UD would push the lead to 33-8 on a three pointer by Kiki Lund, who hit both of her long-range shot attempts in the half.

While it took just 2:59 for Dayton to put up 10 points, some stingy defense kept Clemson from reaching double-digits for 13:20.

UD held the Tigers to just 28 percent (8-for-29) shooting for the half.

At that point Guin would then take over, scoring in a variety of ways. The senior guard hit on a fade away and followed with a three-point play to put the Flyers up 36-10. After another jumper, she scored the Flyers last two points of the half in dramatic fashion.

After a Clemson turnover, the Flyers got the ball back with 3.8 seconds remaining. Following a timeout, Guin rushed down the court, sliced through the right side of the lane and dropped in the layup to give the Flyers a 49-16 advantage at the half.

Cloxton kept up the Flyers torrid pace with a quick lay-in to start the second half and UD would never look back.

Dayton will return to action on Friday looking for an 11th straight win at Eastern Michigan. Tipoff is scheduled at Noon ET for a game that will feature Live Stats at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
