DAYTON, Ohio - Fans of both the Flyers and the Raiders did plenty of cheering for Brittany on Tuesday night at UD Arena. However, a career-high 18 points by Brittany Holterman led the University of Dayton women's basketball team to its 11th-straight victory over Wright State, 63-59. WSU's Brittney Whiteside also finished with 18 points as the Raiders fall to 3-3.

For the Flyers (3-2), the difference in the game was in the paint, as UD held a 26-18 advantage in points inside, and a 39-30 edge in rebounding. Cara Wright added 13 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year, and also blocked three shots. Holterman added eight rebounds and four assists to go along with 7-of-10 shooting.

"She played hard and she was opportunistic," UD Head Coach Jim Jabir said. "She took the shots that they gave her and she went to the basket hard tonight. She has improved probably more than anyone else on our team. She is shooting it better and is attacking the basket better."

Dayton is now 28-3 all-time against Wright State, UD's neighbor from nearby Fairborn, Ohio.

UD got on the board when Wright fed Angela Cape down low for an inside bucket, but the Raiders promptly answered and staked an early 9-8 lead.

The Flyers used an 10-2 run, highlighted by a three-pointer from Amber Peterink and back-to-back jumpers from Kiki Lund to take a 18-11 lead midway through the first. The Raiders' back-to-back three-pointers pulled WSU to within one point, but UD guard Ashley Armstrong answered with a three of her own.

On three-straight possessions the Flyers earned offensive rebounds, and surged ahead 25-19, holding Wright State with out a field goal for 8:48 before a layup by Rhea Mays stopped the charge. Dayton continued its domination in the rebounding department, but managed just a one-point advantage entering halftime, 27-26.

Both teams forced 11 turnovers in the first half, but Dayton controlled possession of the ball by winning the battle of the boards. UD collected 24 rebounds to WSU's 15 behind six boards each from Holterman and Oakland. Lund led the Flyer offensive efforts with six points followed by four each from Holterman and Oakland.

The second half began with the Flyers and the Raiders trading the lead six times in the first six minutes. With Dayton trailing by a pair, UD went on an 8-0 spearheaded by three straight baskets from Holterman. The sophomore guard started with a lay-up at the 15:13 mark and followed with jump shots in the paint with 14:28 and 13:33 remaining to build a five point lead. Ramsey added another lay-up at 12:28 to give Dayton a 39-33 advantage.

UD retained its lead for the remainder of the game behind the strong play of Holterman who had 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the second half. She added two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Her baseline jumper with just under a minute to go put the Flyers up six.

Mays hit two threes, sandwiched around a pair of free throws from Ramsey, to pull the Raiders within two, but Jennifer Strong's free throws put the Flyers ahead two possessions. Mays finished with 16 points, while Whitney Lewis added 13. The Flyers held on thanks to a 15-for-16 performance from the free throw line.

Dayton will face Cleveland State on Friday at UD Arena in a 7:00 p.m. matchup. The Flyers beat both Wright State and Cleveland State on the road last season.
