LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Dayton connected on nearly 60 percent of its shots from the field and led from start to finish in a 96-71 rout of Memphis to open play Saturday at the Cardinal Classic hosted at Bellarmine University. The Flyers (1-1) look to make it two in a row on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET against Winthrop in a game that can be followed with live audio and Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

UD made 36-of-63 shots from the field overall including a 21-for-33 effort (.636) in the first half while holding Memphis below 40 percent shooting (25-for-59). The Flyers also has assists on 20 of their 36 baskets and forced the Tigers into 34 turnovers. Dayton's 96 points are the most in program history during a non-overtime game since Feb. 1, 1986 when the Flyers beat Cleveland State, 96-51.

Four Flyers reached double figures in scoring led by senior Jennifer Strong. The Preseason A-10 Second Team pick connected on 9-of-12 shots from the field to score 19 points in just 18 minutes of action. She added five points, four steals, three assists and two blocks.

Junior Ashley Armstrong made good on just her second career start with 16 points in 20 minutes played. She was 6-for-8 from the field while finishing with two rebounds, a steal and an assist.

A duo of Flyer newcomers came off the bench to have big games as JC transfer Kathy Guin scored 14 points while freshman Aundrea Lindsey tallied 12 of her own. Guin also dished out a game-high five assists while Lindsey recorded three steals.
