Xavier came back with 11 straight points by four different players over the next 3:51 to build an 11-2 advantage. UD missed 10 consecutive shots from the field during the stretch before Kathy Guin drilled a trey from the right corner at the 13:24 mark to pull the Flyers within six at 11-5.

The cold shooting continued throughout the first half for Dayton as the Flyers made just 8-of-33 (.242) shots in the first 20 minutes of play to fall behind 40-19 at halftime. UD forced XU into 11 turnovers, but only earned six points off those mistakes. Nikki Oakland led Dayton with six points and four rebounds in the first half while Brittany Holterman added four points and five rebounds. Karah Cloxton came off the bench to record two points, three steals and two assists in the first half.
