DAYTON, OH - Massachusetts shut down the University of Dayton women's basketball team Friday night at UD Arena, holding UD to a season-low 30 points in a 52-30 loss for the Flyers. Lyndsey DeWitt and Angela Cape led UD with seven points each, while Pam Rosanio led the Minutewomen with 12.

Dayton falls to 10-12 overall and 4-7 in the Atlantic 10. Massachusetts improves to 13-9 overall and 6-5 in A-10 play.

The Flyers shot a season-low .200 (12-of-60) and was 2-of-14from three-point range. UD's previous low was .288 against then-No. 5 Notre Dame on December 9.

UMass opened to an 8-2 lead in the first five minutes, and stretched the margin to 13-2 before Cape answered inside. The Flyers held UMass to just three points from the 11:58 mark to the 7:20 mark, but only scored a pair of their own. A three from Katie Nelson gave UMass a 21-6 lead.

After a three from DeWitt pulled the Flyers within 13 at 27-14, UMass responded with a 6-0 run and took a 33-14 lead into halftime. The Minutewomen controlled the glass in the first half with a 26-15 edge on the boards. Pam Rosanio led all scorers with 10 points at intermission.

The Flyers held Massachusetts to six points in the first 8:16 of the second half, but didn't get on the board until the 15:25 mark on a jumper by Jennifer Strong.

A pair of free throws by Nikki Oakland, a jumper from DeWitt and a put-back from Cape made it 45-25 with 4:09 to go. But the Alisha Tatham responded with a three for the Minutewomen.

Oakland scored inside and Ashley Armstrong drained a three as the Flyers pulled within 18 with 1:40 remaining, but UMass knocked down its final four foul shots to take the 52-30 victory.

Dayton's previous low in points was 39, also against Notre Dame. The Flyers held their 15th opponent under 65 points, and ninth opponent under the 60-point mark.

The Flyers will host La Salle on Sunday at noon in an Atlantic 10 Conference contest.
