DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton head men's cross country coach Rich Davis has announced the addition of five runners to the Flyer cross country program for the upcoming season. Matt Lemon, Chris Lemon, Cory McGoldrick, Chad Bowman and Ryan Shirley have all made formal commitments by signing National Letters of Intent and will be eligible to join the cross country program for the 2007-08 season.

"Among the incoming freshmen recruits are the fifth, sixth, and 12th place finishers in Ohio's Division I State Championships. With this influx of talent to our established pack of experienced competitors, 2007 truly looks to be "The Year of Achievement" for our team," said head coach Rich Davis.

The brother duo of Matt and Chris Lemon are among those to join UD's team. Matt owns the fifth fastest 5K senior time in Ohio at 15:43. He placed fifth at the 2006 Ohio Division I State Cross Country Championships and 10th in the 2006 Ohio D-I Track Championships (9:39 at 3200m). His personal-best 5K cross country time is 15:35.

Matt's brother, Chris owns the sixth fastest 5K senior time in Ohio at 15:44 (one second behind his brother). He placed sixth at the 2006 D-I Cross Country Championships and earned a 14th place finish at the D-I Track Championships (10:00 at 3200m). His best 5K cross country time stands at 15:30.

Cory McGoldrick owns a 15:36 personal-best 5K cross county time. He placed 12th at the 2006 Ohio D-I Cross Country Championship earning the 14th fastest senior time in Ohio. A sixth place 2006 Amherst Regional D-I Track qualifier, McGoldrick ran the 3200m in a time of 9:35.

Chad Bowman earned the 24th fastest senior time at the 2006 Indiana State Cross Country Championships. His fastest 5K cross country time is 16:03.

Ryan Shirley had recorded a personal-best 5K cross country time of 16:18. He placed 17th at the 2006 D-I Southwest Ohio Regional Cross Country Championships.

"Eric Contreras, the Flyers second man throughout the entire season, is the only Top 7 runner from the championship period of the season who we are losing to graduation. We will look to these five new recruits to fill Contreras' spot," said Coach Davis.

The Flyers are set to begin their spring track season at the All Ohio Indoor Championships at Bowling Green State University on February 10.
