Men's Cross Country
DAYTON MEN RUN AT NCAA PRE-NATIONALS

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The cross country teams, after having a week off, traveled to Indiana State to run in the NCAA Pre-Nationals. The men finished in 11th out of 13 teams while the women came in 8th place out of 10 total teams.

The men's race was won by Southern Illinois, with 51 points. South Dakota State came in second (72), followed by Ohio (97), Wichita State (135), Nebraska (156), Western Illinois (173), Richmond (192), Norther Iowa (207), Western Kentucky (207), and Wright State University (217). Dayton came next with 224 points, then came South Florida (306) and Toledo (313).

Michael Connolly lead the Flyers with a 81st overall finish and a time of 26:22. Brian Gilchrist finished in 107th place (26:40), followed by Matt Manning in 132nd place (27:04), Eric Contreras in 135th place (27:09), Dan Sammons in 142nd place (27:15), Billy Prezybyla in 147th place (27:28), Brian Roberts in 150th place (27:32), Brett Fisher in 165th place (27:34), Tony Holtvoigt in 176th place (28:08), Matt Danis in 177th place (28:12), and Zak Lewis, who did not finish, in 197th place.

The women's race was won by Northern Illinois, with 60 total points. Wisconsin-Milwaukee came in second (76), followed by California-Riverside (95), Northern Iowa (104), and Western Illinois (118) to finish up the top five. Ohio (146), South Dakota State (168), Dayton (180), Drake, (196), and IUPUI (234) rounded out the bottom five.

Michelle Griffin finished first for the Flyers, ending up in 86th overall place with a time of 23:35. Laura Fenske came in 91st place (23:37), followed by Ruth Hinde in 108th place (23:56), Kiera Gottlemoeller in 118th place (24:11), Tessa Mott in 124th place (24:17), Emily Deet in 137th place (24:29), Amanda Tucker in 146th place (24:42), Colleen Devanney in 149th place (24:53), Katie Dobies in 159th place (25:24), Megan Watkins in 160th place (25:19), Bridget Kuhel in 170th place (25:39), and Kate Mone in 177th place (26:01).

The Flyers take two weeks off, before traveling to Ysilanti, Mich., to race in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Nov. 13th.
