ANDERSEN WINS ANOTHER A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AWARD
Oct. 17, 2005 DAYTON, OH - University of Dayton freshman Mike Andersen was named Men's Cross Country Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week. This past weekend Anderson won the Falcon Invitational with a time of 25:33. He broke the UD freshman record with his time, which was formerly held by Dan Morony with a 25:42. It was also UD's first individual win since Brian Roberts won the 2003 Cross Country Only National Championship. The Flyers finished first as a team at the Falcon Invitational with six of the top 12 finishers, smoking the field of six. Dayton's top nine runners placed in the top 20 college runners in the event. Last week, Andersen (Milford, MI) was named A-10 Rookie of the Week after he finished 35th at the All-Ohio Championships with a time of 26:59. He has been the first Flyer across the finish line in each of his first five collegiate starts, and his time at the Falcon Invitational was good enough for fourth on the UD Harrier Heroes list, which is the top 35 all-time personal best five mile times. Andersen also holds spots 5, 27 and 36 on the all-time fastest five mile times list. Andersen and the rest of the men's team have a week off before the Atlantic 10 Championship in Philadelphia on Saturday, October 29. |
