ANDERSEN NAMED A-10 MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TOP PERFORMER OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND TIME THIS SEASON
Sept. 18, 2006 DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton sophomore Mike Andersen has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week for the second time this season after breaking two school records at the National Catholic Invite on Friday. Andersen led his fellow teammates at Notre Dame posting a fourth place finish in a time of 24:55 setting a school record for the fastest 8K time in UD history. Andersen is the only person to record a time under 25 minutes for the Flyers. His fourth place finish was also the highest individual finish for the Flyers at the National Catholic Invite in school history. Andersen improved his personal best time by 11 seconds. This is Andersen's fourth A-10 weekly honor. Most recently, he was named the A-10 Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week for his near-record-setting effort in winning the Flyer 5K earlier this month. In addition, he was named the league's Rookie of the Week twice in 2005. He also holds the distinction of being the A-10's Outstanding Rookie of the Year last year. Andersen, along with the rest of his teammates will compete Saturday at the Spiked Shoe Invitational in State College, PA. |
