Junior Mike Andersen finished second overall at Saturday's meet

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton junior Mike Andersen was named the inaugural Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week following his record-setting effort at the Meijer Flyer 5K on Saturday. Andersen, who finished second overall at the meet finishing in 15:15, broke the existing race record of 15:17 and improved upon his finish last year by six seconds.

The two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection and 2005 A-10 Rookie of the Year finished ahead of more than 120 runners to help Dayton finish second at the meet with a total team score of 44 points.

Next up for Andersen and his teammates is the National Catholic Invite on Friday, September 14. The Flyers will take to the course on the campus of Notre Dame University for the team's second meet of the year.
