DAYTON, Ohio - The 2008 cross country season will begin in only a few days as Dayton's men's and women's cross country teams prepare to host their only home meet of the year, The Meijer Flyer 5k Challenge. On Saturday, Dayton will open the season at Indian Riffle Park in Kettering, Ohio. The men's race will begin at 10:45 a.m. ET, with the women's start time slated for 11:15 a.m. ET.

The race was will be scored as two separate meets: an NCAA Division I meet and a college division meet. The 2008 participants include Cincinnati, IPFW, Xavier, Miami, Wright State, Ohio Wesleyan, Rio Grande, Wittenburg, Morehead State, Urbana, and IUPUI.

The 5,000-meter course is very spectator friendly and fans are able to view the runners starting, finishing, and during each of the three miles of racing. Afterwards, the individual champions and the winning teams will be recognized in an award ceremony.
