DAYTON, Ohio - Senior Allysa Detroy from women's tennis and junior Matthew Peters from men's cross country earned the second annual Presidential Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award from the Office of Academic Services of Student-Athletes and the Office of the Provost. Detroy and Peters were honored at the Student-Athlete Honors Banquet held prior to the Dayton men's basketball game on Wednesday.

Last season, Detroy posted an 11-12 singles record and captured Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on February 26, 2007. She is 2-6 this season in singles and doubles tennis. Detroy's wins have come against IUPUI and Green Bay where she helped her team to a 7-0 sweep. She boasts a 4.0 GPA as a dual major in Spanish and Education.

In the fall, Peters placed sixth in the Flyer 5k with a time of 15:29. Competing in five races, his notable finishes included 15th at the National Catholic Invite where he set a personal best of 25:45. Peters' time put him 32nd on the All-Time Top 8k Performances list at UD. In the classroom, Peters has 3.82 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major.

The Presidential Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award is the most prestigious presented by the University of Dayton Athletics Department. It serves to recognize two student-athletes, one male and one female, who have demonstrated academic excellence, qualities of leadership and service to the University of Dayton and community.

The Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes also honored the members of the 4.00 Flyers Award, All-Academic Team and 3.50 honorees.

All-Academic Team - Recognizes student-athletes who earned the highest cumulative grade point average on their respective teams.
