FLYERS RUN WELL AT NCAA GREAT LAKES REGOINAL

BLOOMINGTON, IN - The University of Dayton cross country program finished its season this afternoon when they ran in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Bloomington, IN. The men's team finished 22nd of 30 teams with the women placing 26th of 32 teams. Leading the way for the men was Atlantic 10 Outstanding Rookie of the Year Mike Andersen. The freshman from Milford, MI ran the course in a time of 33:02, good enough to finish in 65th. Also running well for the Flyers was Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year, junior Eric Contreras, who ran a 34:15. Joining them in the scoring for the Flyers were sophomores Billy Przybyla (35:12), Michael Connolly (35:54) and Daniel Sammons (36:26). The defensive specialists were freshmen Tom Middleton (36:37) and Matt Peters (38:15). For the women, freshman Jacqueline Jaworek was the first across the line. She ran a time of 23:44. This was also the first time Jaworek has finished as first Flyer in her collegiate career. Other Flyer harriers running well at the meet were junior Meg Watkins (23:57), freshman Anne Oltman (24:06), and juniors Emily Haas (24:11) and Dianne Striebel (24:33). The defensive specialists for the Flyers were sophomore Corey Fullenkamp, who ran a time of 24:37 and freshman Ellen Nienhaus, who ran a 24:51. |
