Charlotte, N.C. - The best three times in school history helped the University of Dayton men's cross country team place sixth overall with 103 points at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday afternoon at UNC Charlotte's Campus Course.

The Flyers were paced by a trio of top ten finishers as sophomores Chris Lemon, Matt Lemon and redshirt junior Mike Andersen all turned in record times. The Flyer top three guided UD to a sixth place finish overall with 130 points.

UMass came away with the team title after recording 75 points, and Charlotte junior Adu Dentamo took the individual title with a time of 24:01 which was the third best performance in A-10 Championship history.

Chris Lemon was the top finisher for the Flyers, as the sophomore earned third-place in a school record time of 24:11.

Former record holder Mike Andersen was right on his tail, however, and posted a time just four seconds slower to grab fifth place.

Sophomore Matt Lemon was third for the team, and eighth overall, in 24:22.

The Lemon brothers and Andersen were each decorated with all-conference honors for their individual performances at the race.

Two seniors wrapped up the scoring for the team, as Tim Kaelin placed 67th overall in a time of 26:14 and Billy Przybyla ran a 26:21 to place 69th.

While running in defense, the Flyers also received personal best times from sophomore Ryan Shirley (71st overall, 26:25) and senior Michael Peters (76th, 26:30).

The women's competition was captured by Richmond with a team score of 48, and another 49er came away with individual honors as sophomore Amanda Goetschius put up a time of 17:37 to take the conference crown.

For the Flyers, it was Maureen Bulgrin leading the way once again with a time of 18:31. The sophomore has now led UD in six of seven races this season and took tenth place overall to earn all-conference honors.

Following closely was Liz Coorey, a sophomore, who came away with all-conference honors as well. Coorey clocked in at 18:37 to claim 13th position.

Senior Ellen Nienhaus finished third for the Flyers and 24th overall with a time of 18:51, which was just six second off her personal record.

Freshman Elissa Mason cross just after in 18:54 to take 27th.

Rounding out the scoring for the Flyers was sophomore Brigitte Sherman, who registered a time of 18:56 to finish in 29th position.

Running in defense was junior Alex Miles (52nd overall, 19:22) and freshman Lindsey Cummings (55th overall, 19:25).

The Flyer runners will be in action next at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 15 in West Lafayatte, Ind.. Race time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. EST.
