BOWLING GREEN, OH - The University of Dayton cross country program ran in two different events this morning, with the men competing in the Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, OH and the women competing in the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, IN. The men finished first in their event, their first win since the 2003 Cross Country-Only National Championship. The women came in tenth in Indiana.

The men also had the individual winner, freshman Mike Andersen, who ran a time of 25:33. He broke the freshman record with his time, formerly held by Dan Morony with a 25:42. It was also UD's first individual win since Brian Roberts won the 2003 Cross Country Only.

The Flyers also had 8 athletes finish with their fastest times of the season, including Billy Przybyla (26:41), Mike Connolly (27:05), Matt Danis (27:33), Erik VanEtten (28:30), Mike Andersen (25:33), Tim Kaelin (27:26), Tommy Middleton (26:55), and Dan Thompson (29:57). VanEtten, Andersen, Middleton, Kaelin, and Thompson also set personal best times during the race.

The men also had 6 of the top twelve finishers in the race.

For the women, Amy Kempf finished 28th, with a time of 23:06. Also running well for the Flyers were Anne Oltman (23:21), Corey Fullenkamp (23:50), Meg Watkins (23:56), and Jacqueline Jaworek (24:00).

Ellen Nienhaus and Emily Haas Finished in the defensive specialists positions, posting times of 24:13 and 24:14, respectively.

The next event for the men and women is the Atlantic 10 Championships in Philadelphia, PA on October 29.
