MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY WRAPS UP SPRING TRACK SCHEDULE AT ALL-OHIO MEET
April 18, 2009
OXFORD, Oh. - Sophomore Chris Lemon set a school record in the 10K this weekend as the Flyer men's cross country team competed in the All-Ohio Championships at Miami University. Wrapping up their spring running schedule, the Flyers were the only squad at the meet to place more than one runner in the top-ten in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter events. Chris Lemon's 30:26 time in the 10K event was the highlight for the team on Friday night as the second-year distance runner beat out Matt Lemon's record from last season. His brother was just behind him, however, and finished fifth-overall with a result of 31:29. In the 5,000 meter race, redshirt Mike Andersen notched a second-place finish with his time of 14:55. With a top-ten finish, Flyer freshman Greg Roeth also set a personal record with his seventh-place time of 15:23. Sophomore Ryan Shirley, who finished 12th in 15:35, ran a personal best time as well. On Saturday, the team had two more runners compete. Senior Michael Peters placed 15th overall with his 4:04.75 time in the 1,500 meter event and sophomore Cory McGoldrick was 16th overall with a mark of 10:11.70 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. |
