MATT LEMON BREAKS 5000 METER RECORD; FLYERS RECORD EIGHT PERSONAL BESTS AT MIAMI TRACK MEET

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's cross country team kept up its record-breaking ways this past weekend at the Miami Team Challenge in Oxford, OH. Eight Flyers posted personal bests as Matt Lemon destroyed the 5000 meter school record Saturday in the team's third track meet of the season.

Six Flyers ran their fastest times ever in the 5000 meter as Matt Lemon finished first in 14:39.61 for a program record of nearly 13 seconds.

The previous outdoor 5000 meter record was held by Tim Mulligan who ran a time of 14:53.64 in 2003.

Chris Lemon also came close to breaking the existing school record. Chris placed second missing the record by .05 of a second (14:53.69).

Fellow teammates Billy Przybyla (15:40.93), Brad Boyd (15:54.01), Ryan Shirley (16:02.46), and Michael Peters (16:27.93) also posted personal bests in the event.

In the 1500 meter run, Tim Kaelin ran a career best 4:10.49, while Thomas Andersen clocked in at 4:23.81 for his best race time.

The men's cross country team will compete in one more track meet this season. Dayton will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio on April 19 for the All-Ohio Championships.
