ANDERSEN BREAKS 3000 METER RECORD AT ALL-OHIO CHAMPIONSHIPS
Feb. 11, 2007 DAYTON, Ohio - Sophomore Mike Andersen broke the University of Dayton's 3000 meter record by 12 seconds on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ohio. Andersen, along with his teammates competed in their first track and field meet of the season at the All-Ohio Championships during the weekend competing in only two events. Andersen finished second overall in the 3000 meter event in a time of 8.39.47. Fellow teammate's Derek Henderson and Tommy Middleton followed behind finishing in 9:22.37 and 9:24.22, respectively. The Flyers also competed in the one mile run where sophomore Matt Peters (4:26.80) and senior Daniel Sammons (4:27.96) placed an impressive fourth and sixth. Freshman Brad Boyd placed 13th running the mile in 4:39.15. Next up for the Flyers is the Hurricane Invitational. Dayton will head to Coral Gables, Florida on March 17 to compete in their second track and field meet of the year. |
