2008
Along with twin brother, Chris, Matt Lemon had a standout second season. The twin tandem made UD cross country history in November by becoming the first Flyer runners to ever qualify for the NCAA National Championship meet. Matt began the season with a 14th place finish at the Meijer Flyer 5K (15:53), before taking eighth at the National Catholic Invitational (25:22). He then took 11th at the All-Ohio Championships before leading the squad at the NCAA Pre-Nationals, placing 69th overall (24:39). Matt would end up finishing every fall race among the top three Flyers. He also eclipsed his 8K personal best at the Atlantic 10 Championships. In addition to helping UD to a sixth place team finish, he earned All-Conference honors for the second straight year by running the course in 24:22 to take eighth overall. After the conclusion of the regular season, Matt ran in 14th position at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional to earn a berth at the NCAA Championships, where he also broke his best 10K time with a 31:02 mark.
2007
Matt Lemon came on strong with four All-Time 8K Performances in program history and led the Flyers in each of the last five races of the season. He was named to the Atlantic 10's All-Conference Team thanks to an eighth place finish at the A-10 Championships with a time of 25:54. Additionally, Matt earned the A-10 Rookie of the Year award, as he was the first freshman finisher. At the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic, Lemon broke his brother's freshman 8K school record in a personal best time of 24:53. With that finish, he ranks second on Harrier Heroes list behind teammate Mike Andersen. At the NCAA Regionals, Lemon broke another school record by besting the 10K mark in a time of 31:33. His 24th place is currently the best all-time individual Flyer Regional finisher, earning him a spot on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I Men's All-Region Cross Country Team. For his accomplishments during the 2007 season, Matt was named the team's Most Valuable Runner.
