MEN'S TENNIS CONQUERS SINGLES PLAY AT BRADLEY INVITATIONAL

PEORIA, Ill. - The University of Dayton men's tennis team served a smash in singles and doubles matches at the Bradley Invitational on September 24-26, 2004.

Flyer tennis traveled to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois to face South Dakota State University, University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Illinois-Chicago, University Wisconsin-Green Bay, Valparaiso University and Bradley University.

UD men's tennis took first place in the Singles Flight A final round against Valparaiso University. The two wins by sophomore Tom Murphy (Carmel, IN) and junior Kevin O'Connell (Toledo, OH) secured the title for the Flyers. The team had to settle for fifth place in the Singles Flight B final round, with wins by sophomore Rex Cabrea (Hoffman Estates, IL) and junior Jamison Downs (Indianapolis, IN). The Flyers faced a tough loss against Bradley University in the first-place match in the Doubles Flight third round, with one win each by Murphy and O'Connell to finish second.

UD men's tennis next travels to Louisville KY for the Louisville Invitational from October 8-10, 2004.
