TOLEDO, Ohio - The men's tennis team kicked off its 2007 fall campaign at the Toledo Invitational on Friday against competition from Toledo, Cleveland State, Xavier and Duquesne. Junior Brad Roby led the Flyers with wins in both of his matches. UD earned 1/2 point on day one, and trails front-running Duquesne by three points.

Roby and Antonio Rodriguez swept Duquesne in flight "C" singles to earn the team's 1/2 point. Each won easily in straight sets, as Roby downed Steve Herchko 6-4, 6-1, and Rodriguez cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jimmy Vogelgesang.

Senior James O'Connell posted a big win in Dayton's flight "A" singles match-up v. Toledo. O'Connell defeated Jared Miller, but the Rockets earned the point by winning two of the three matches in the contest.

In doubles, Roby teamed up with sophomore Wesley Hartig for Dayton's lone doubles win. The duo defeated Brian Schubert and Adam Schaeffer of Xavier, 8-3.

Day two action will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. UD starts the day in flight "B" singles competition against Duquesne, and in doubles competition against Toledo.
