MICHAEL ROHANA REPEATS AS TEAM MVP FOR DAYTON MEN'S TENNIS

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton men's tennis coach Steve Brumbaugh has announced his award winners for the 2008-2009 season. The White Allen Most Valuable Player Award went to junior Michael Rohana. Sophomore Bryce Warnock was named the Most Improved Player and senior David Peyton earned the Coach's Award. The Flyers finished 7-16 in dual matches on the year, and placed ninth at the Atlantic 10 Championship. Rohana was named MVP for the second straight season. Playing at the #1 singles position, Rohana turned in a 5-15 singles record and a 5-14 doubles record. Three of his singles victories came against all-conference performers. He is from Fishers, Indiana and is a 2006 graduate of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis. Warnock, a sophomore from Prairie Village, Kansas and a 2007 graduate of Shawnee Mission High School, compiled a 9-9 record at #3 singles and was 11-6 in doubles play this season. He was 9-15 at #6 singles and 4-10 in doubles last year. The team's only senior, Peyton was 8-15 in three different singles positions and was 6-14 in doubles, primarily teaming with Rohana at #1. A four-year letterwinner, Peyton is a 2005 graduate of Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio. UD returns six of eight letterwinners for next year. |
