Michael Rohana received All-Conference honors for the second straight year

April 21, 2008

Sophomore Michael Rohana and senior James O'Connell have been selected for post-season Atlantic 10 honors, it was announced Thursday. Rohana was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 and O'Connell was a Second Team All-Conference selection, marking the third consecutive year he was honored by A-10 voters.

Rohana led the Flyers in the 2008 campaign at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles throughout most of the year. He compiled a 10-7 singles record to compliment a 7-10 doubles mark.

Two of Rohana's biggest singles victories came against Atlantic 10 opponents. In March, he defeated Xavier's Doug Matthews- who was named 2008 Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year- 6-3, 6-4. At the Atlantic 10 Championship, Rohana went 1-0 at singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Jared Dorfman. Overall, Rohana went 6-1 in singles against Atlantic 10 opponents.

O'Connell recorded an 8-12 singles record and a 7-14 doubles mark this spring. He saw action at each of the top three singles spots in the order, with most of his matches coming at No. 2.

Both Rohana and O'Connell were named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 last season. O'Connell was also an all-conference performer in 2006 as a sophomore.
