Dayton juniors Michael Rohana and Matt Sherman each participated in the 2008 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships Qualifier on Thursday at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Both Flyers were eliminated in the first round of play by some of best competition the Midwest has to offer.

Rohana and Sherman both drew opponents from major conferences in their first round matches. Rohana tangled with Louisville's Andrew Carter, and was defeated 6-1, 6-0.

Sherman faced Phillip Arndt of Minnesota, who tallied a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

As a team, the Flyers concluded the fall season earlier this month at the Ball State Invitational, their last of three fall tournaments. The spring season begins on Jan. 16 against Toledo at home.
