FLYERS FINISH IN FOURTH AT TOLEDO INVITATIONAL

The Dayton men's tennis team tallied two more points on day two of the Toledo Invitational to finish their season opener in fourth place overall. The Flyers posted wins over Denison in the doubles division and Flight A singles bracket. Dayton's top three players swept Denison in the singles contest. Junior Michael Rohana led the way with a win over Jordan Buehler, while classmate Matt Sherman handled Cempre 6-4, 6-1. Senior David Peyton capped off the victory with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-1 win over Adam Seeley. In the doubles win, Rohana and Peyton teamed up to defeat Buehler and James Davis 8-6. Sophomore Michael Koscielski and freshman Austin Wiegand clinched the point with a 9-8 (6) victory over Cawood and Evan Verbofsky. Other Flyer victories on day two included a Sherman win against Indiana State and a doubles win from freshman Andrew Nixon and sophomore Bryce Warnock over Duquesne. The Toledo Rockets won the invitational with 11 points. Dayton will be back in action this Friday and Saturday at the Valpo Invite in Valparaiso, IN. |
