PHILADELPHIA, PA - The men's tennis team capped of the 2008 campaign with a 4-1 victory over Fordham at the Atlantic 10 Tennis Championship on Saturday. The ninth-seeded Flyers finished in a tie for ninth place at the tournament, and posted a 9-15 overall record for the season.

For the second day in a row, UD jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. Juniors David Peyton and Antonio Rodriguez defeated Sotiris Georgiou and Peter Slucky at No. 2 doubles, and freshman Michael Koscielski teamed with senior Josh Vance for an 8-4 win at No. 3.

In singles, sophomore Matt Sherman led the way with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3. Senior James O'Connell was also dominant, as he posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 2.

Vance rounded out the scoring for UD with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Slucky.

Sophomore Michael Rohana was also leading at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 5-4, but the match was not finished because the Flyers had clinched the victory.

Dayton tied for ninth place in the tournament with Saint Joseph's.
