Dayton, OH - The Dayton Flyers men's tennis team knocked off Northern Kentucky University 5-2 at home on Friday afternoon. With one match to go in the regular season, UD has taken two in a row and four of its past five. UD's overall record now stands at 10-10.

The Flyers took the doubles point with two wins at the top two spots. Senior Tom Murphy and junior James O'Connell defeated NKU's Felipe Rosetti and Fritz Dlabik 8-2 at the first position. Sophomores David Peyton and Brad Roby, playing together for the first time this season, then delivered an 8-3 win at second doubles defeating NKU's Reed Sparks and Jason Kramer.

Murphy (16-4) started off singles play with a 6-4, 6-0 straight-set victory against Rosetti. O'Connell (12-7) followed suit at second singles, defeating Sparks 6-2, 7-5.

The Flyers then dropped the third and fourth singles points to the Norse, but that was all they would surrender.

Peyton (10-8) moved up to fifth singles and posted his seventh straight singles (the sophomore also reached double-digits in singles wins for the first time in his Flyer career) win over NKU's Kurt Collins 6-3, 6-4.

Freshman Wes Hartig (3-5) filled in at sixth singles and took down NKU's Josh Fudala by a score of 6-1, 6-2.

The Flyers will play Valparaiso at home on Saturday as they look to finish the season with a winning record. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
