DAYTON OVERWHELMED BY BUTLER
March 28, 2006
Dayton, OH - The Dayton men's tennis battled a strong Butler University team Tuesday afternoon. The Flyers were unable to wrestle any points away from the Bulldogs, falling 7-0. The loss was UD's sixth defeat out of the past seven contests. The team's record now stands at 8-10 on the year. Although UD has not been playing well lately, the team still boasts a 7-2 record on their home court, which was not an apparent factor in Tuesday's loss. Junior Tom Murphy (11-4) was beaten at first singles for just the fourth time this season. He was taken down by Brandon Gill 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore James O'Connell (12-4) also dropped a match for just the fourth time this season, falling 6-3, 6-4 to James Low. UD was swept in doubles action for the sixth time this season. The team will now travel to Valparaiso, Indiana for a host of matches this weekend. The Flyers first opponent will be Valparaiso University on Friday. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start time. |
