FLYERS BOUNCED BY BONAVENTURE

Dayton, OH - The UD men's tennis squad saw their record fall below .500 for the first time since February 10 as the Flyers dropped a dual match to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies 5-2. With the Wednesday evening loss, Dayton is now sporting a 7-8 overall record. In doubles action, the Flyers were swept for only the fourth time on the season. The top duo of senior Jamison Downs and junior Tom Murphy were beaten for only the fourth time this season as well, losing an 8-6 decision to Hart/Stankovic. In singles play UD was only able to pry two points away from the Bonnies, who picked up four singles wins on the Flyers. Murphy lost at first singles for only the third time this season, falling in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to Alejandro Neri. At second singles, sophomore James O'Connell became the second Flyer to move into double digits in singles wins with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Leo Mochizuki. Junior Rex Cabrera continued his recent hot streak, winning his third consecutive singles match over Andrew Hart 6-3, 6-0. The Flyers will next be in action March 24 at Toledo looking to even their record. The Rockets have scheduled a 7:00 PM first serve. |
